BEHAVIORAL HEALTH DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: BEHAVIORAL HEALTH DIRECTOR
DEPARTMENT: Clinical / Administration
REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
COORDINATES WITH: Chief Executive Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Staff & Community Partners

The staff of C.W. Williams Community Health Center recognizes that alcohol and drug addiction is a physical, emotional, and behavioral illness that, if left untreated, will progress to life threatening stages.

PURPOSE:
Behavioral Health Department offers both addiction and mental health services and is committed to providing successful treatment and ongoing recovery to our patients. We focus on developing an individualized recovery plan for each participant. Both individual and group sessions are utilized in our program.

Acts in patient’s best interest of the Agency, Patients and Staff without waiting for direction.

All patient care and program activity is confidential. Violation of confidential matters is grounds for immediate dismissal.

The Development Director assists the CEO and Board of Directors to mobilize resources and steward them faithfully so that organization meets its strategic goal to provide quality medical care and ancillary services to its patients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise LCSW, LCAS, Case Managers, Peer Support and possibly CHWs.
  • Diagnose patients with mental health conditions, emotional or addictive disorders and provide counseling services and other resources to individuals, family members or small groups, that promote healthy coping strategies and improve overall well-being.
  • Maintain Patient records in a timely manner (completion within 24 hours).
  • Ensure patients are scheduled and attend behavioral health visits.
  • Be the point of contact for behavioral health coordination.
  • Educate medical providers about behavioral health and/or chemical dependency coordination of care initiatives and directives.
  • Assist members and providers in resolving coordination of care issues through improved communication, advocacy, and multidisciplinary treatment planning.
  • Monitor behavioral health and medical provider coordination of care for patients engaged in behavioral health and/or chemical dependency services.
  • Track and document coordination of care activities to ensure proper notification, conflict resolution, and appropriate follow through by providers.
  • Enters data as necessary for the generation of reports related to behavioral health coordination, access to care and patient utilization of behavioral health and medical services.
  • Maintains a system to protect the confidentiality of all identifying information for behavioral health recipients, as required by Federal Regulation.
  • Ensure exceptional service and professionalism, including problem resolution.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Be punctual and maintain regular, reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as directed.


EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Work certification and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist preferred.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities and tasks.
  • The ability to work effectively with persons of varying degrees of education and professional expertise in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
  • Knowledge of Telehealth, computer skills.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources administration.
  • Clinical background and 5-10 years nonprofit experience is desirable.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a medical office/Federally Qualified Health Center setting.
  • Understand and promote mission, vision, and values of CWWCHC both in the workplace and in the community.
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Experience working within a behavioral health program is desired.
  • Must be sensitive to the needs and situation of multi-cultural population from a variety of income levels.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Bachelor of Arts Degree or equivalent work experience.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Those inherent to working in the community; requires one to be in good health - able to do lots of walking, talking and standing for long periods.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Chief Medical Officer & Chief Executive Officer
SUPERVISION RENDERED: Outreach Team & Volunteers
EFFECTS OF ERRORS: Errors may expose the Center to Liability and Embarrassment.
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week and as needed, including late evenings and possible Weekends.
SALARY RANGE: As specified in the Notice of Hire.
Perform Other Duties as Assigned.
