**Responsibilities**
Provide lactation care and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and infants. Serve as a lactation-related clinical resource, educator, and mentor.
+ Perform initial and on-going assessments of patients' lactation goals and issues. Instruct and demonstrate proper techniques and promote the importance of breastfeeding.
+ Identify the need for standard patient teaching plans and assists with their development.
+ Act as a liaison to staff and physicians when addressing needs associated with breastfeeding.
+ Contribute to the development of data tools to monitor and improve outcomes.
**Requirements**
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
+ Certification specializing in Lactation obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education:
+ High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
