About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Healthcare Regulatory Attorney to contribute high-quality, practical legal content in a freelance capacity. In this role, you will draft "how-to" practice guides, checklists, forms, and legal analysis on key topics, including healthcare compliance, regulatory matters, licensing, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements, and healthcare fraud laws. This is a part-time, fully remote position, offering flexibility while allowing you to leverage your expertise in healthcare law.
Key Responsibilities
Develop practical legal content, including step-by-step guides, checklists, and forms, focused on healthcare regulations, compliance, and transactional matters.
Review and enhance existing legal documents by integrating guidance based on case law, statutes, regulations, and industry best practices.
Conduct extensive legal research to ensure accuracy and relevance.
Analyze and refine taxonomies and legal language to improve clarity and usability.
Collaborate with editors and subject matter experts to maintain high-quality standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Licensed attorney in the U.S. with active state bar membership in good standing.
5+ years of experience in healthcare regulatory law, with a strong understanding of:
Licensing, governance, and compliance
Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements
Fraud and abuse laws (Anti-Kickback, Stark Law, FCA)
HealthCare.gov and federal/state healthcare regulations
Prior experience in legal writing, editing, or publishing (such as law firm newsletters, legal journals, or compliance publications) is a plus.
Skills & Tools
Exceptional legal writing and editing skills, with the ability to create clear, well-structured content.
Strong legal research capabilities and proficiency in using legal databases.
Familiarity with Microsoft Word (Track Changes), Excel, and the full Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently.
Strong analytical and detail-oriented mindset.
