SBH seeks a Research Associate to assist with data production and analysis for equity and private market teams across the firm, primarily through the use and integration of FactSet and Excel. The successful candidate will provide performance attribution, macro research, factor analytics, risk attribution, and other analysis of SBH strategies and client portfolios to various internal constituents. Private markets responsibilities will include manager research due diligence.

Responsibilities:
  • Creates advanced analytical reports and models using deep technical knowledge of FactSet , including custom formula creation, screening tools, and API integration, alongside external data sources...
  • Responsible for collecting, maintaining, automating, and monitoring various datasets, models, and internal processes
  • Participate in meetings with investment managers to gather information and insights in the private markets space
  • Draft investment memorandums on fund investments and co-investments to support investment decision-making process
  • Responds to special requests and projects from other departments, will often be collaborating with cross-functional teams including sales, marketing, and various investment teams in asset management
  • Awareness of market trends and investment opportunities through continuous market research and analysis
  • Develops and maintains complex FactSet models and dashboards tailored to portfolio analysis, performance attribution, and risk metrics across asset classes.
  • Serves as an internal FactSet expert, troubleshooting data issues, optimizing workflows, and training team members on advanced FactSet functionalities.
Qualifications:
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and advanced technical experience with FactSet, including familiarity with FactSet formulas, screening, portfolio analysis tools, and Excel integration.
  • Experience with FactSet API or FactSet's proprietary coding tools (e.g., FactSet Formula Language) is a strong plus.
  • Undergraduate degree in economics, finance, accounting, statistics or math, with 1-
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working experience with FactSet
  • Strong interest in investing and working for a buy-side firm
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a team, and with multiple customer constituents
  • Proactive, detail-oriented approach with strong ability to prioritize tasks and projects to meet deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Progress toward CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) a plus

This position is exempt and is paid according to the laws of the State of Illinois. The pay range for this position is $95,000-116,000 USD per year. We are required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience..

Physical Requirements
  • This position requires the physical capabilities to work in an office environment, which may include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.   • This position is required to work onsite 4 days per week.
