Cylinder Inspection

Anthias provides professional scuba cylinder inspection and maintenance services. In the Netherlands, scuba cylinders must undergo an internal visual inspection every year and a hydrostatic pressure test every five years to ensure they remain safe for use.

We remove the cylinder valve and inspect the inside of the cylinder for corrosion, rust, or other potential issues. If we identify any problems, we recommend having the cylinder undergo a hydrostatic pressure test. This is an important inspection to verify whether the cylinder is still safe to use. This test is required at least once every five years. If the cylinder successfully passes the test, it is approved for another five years of safe use.

For this inspection, cylinders are collected by a certified inspection authority. This takes place on a Wednesday, and you will generally be without your cylinder for a maximum of two weeks. If needed, you can ask about the availability of a loan cylinder to bridge this period.

Anthias also provides cylinder valve servicing. We recommend having the valve serviced at the same time as the hydrostatic pressure test. Valve servicing includes disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and replacement of components where necessary to ensure the valve operates smoothly and remains leak-free.

Good to know:
You can always find the inspection date and validity period of your scuba cylinder on the neck of the cylinder.

The date is read as follows: 24 represents the year in which the cylinder was inspected, in this case 2024. 04 represents the month in which the cylinder was inspected, April. Finally, 29 represents the year until which the inspection remains valid, in this case 2029.
