Anthias provides professional inspection, testing, and maintenance services for scuba cylinders. In the Netherlands, scuba cylinders must undergo an internal visual inspection every year and a hydrostatic pressure test every five years to ensure they remain safe for use.

During the annual inspection, we remove the cylinder valve and carefully inspect the inside of the cylinder for corrosion, rust, or other signs of damage. If we identify any issues, we will recommend a hydrostatic pressure test to determine whether the cylinder is still safe to use. This test is mandatory at least once every five years. Once a cylinder successfully passes the hydrostatic test, it is certified for another five years of safe use.

Hydrostatic testing is carried out by a certified inspection authority. Cylinders are collected on Wednesdays, and the turnaround time is generally no more than two weeks. If needed, you can ask about the availability of a loan cylinder while yours is being tested.

Anthias also services cylinder valves. We recommend having the valve serviced at the same time as the hydrostatic inspection. Valve servicing includes complete disassembly, thorough cleaning, inspection, lubrication where appropriate, and replacement of worn components to ensure smooth operation and leak-free performance.

Cylinder Filling

At Anthias, we can fill both 200 bar and 300 bar cylinders while you wait. We also provide Nitrox up to 40% (EAN40) on a while-you-wait basis.

Oxygen Service

For cylinders that will be filled with gas mixtures containing more than 40% oxygen, Anthias offers a dedicated Oxygen Service. During this service, both the cylinder and its valve are thoroughly cleaned to oxygen-service standards, ensuring safe use with oxygen-rich gas mixtures. The certification remains valid for one year.

Fill Card

With our Fill Card (available in-store only), you receive every 10th fill free. Purchase nine fills, and the tenth is on us,a great option for divers who dive regularly.

If you are unable to visit during our regular opening hours, you can use our outdoor filling station. This self-service station is available daily from 08:00 to 22:00 for 200 bar air fills. The outdoor filling station operates with coins.

High-Quality Breathing Air

We maintain the highest standards for the breathing air used to fill your cylinders. Our compressor system is inspected annually, and we regularly test air samples to ensure they comply with the highest quality and safety standards.

Good to Know

• The cylinder’s inspection and test dates are stamped on the cylinder neck.
• Cylinders do not need to be empty before inspection or testing.
• We remove and reinstall the cylinder valve, boot, mesh, and carrying handle as part of the inspection process.
